There is not. As the airport is located on an island, one will need to cross a bridge to get to the mainland. A bridge for railroad traffic to pass across has yet to be constructed in the region, thus leaving passengers with only one choice in terms of public transportation: the bus – or actually buses, to be more precise.
In total, one will have to take 2 to 3 buses in order to get from the airport to the centre of the city. Starting from the airport, the first bus to catch is the 401, which will take you to the Sungai Nibong bus station.
From there, you will need to connect with a follow up bus, the Billion express bus, which crosses the river via the Penang Bridge. Make sure to book your tickets online for this bus, as the driver will not accept payment. In total it should be the equivalent of a few euros.
This bus will drop you off at Penang Sentral, from where you are within walking distance of a lot of things, but may need to catch a follow up bus to reach your final destination. Depending on where you are going, check the departure board to locate the correct bus.

The airport is located on the neighbouring ‘Penang Island’, which is around 38 kilometres away by car, and 24 kilometres away, as the crow flies.
As has been indicated thus far, there is only one transportation method available to you in terms of Public Transport. Buses run regular routes which eventually will get you to your destination, but, as has been seen, they definitely aren’t efficient. Even while writing this article we became confused with the route, meaning actually taking it could be even more confusing.
