How do I get from Malta Airport to my destination by bus?

No matter, what city of Malta are you going to visit you can use Malta Public Transport and there are currently 4 bus lines running to and from the airport. You can find the bus terminal in front of the Departures Hall:

  • Goes from Malta Airport to Cirkewwa and comes every 30-40 minutes with the first departure at 5’20am and last at 22’55pm
  • Goes from Malta Airport to San Giljan and comes every hour with the first departure at 6 am and last 11 pm
  • Goes from Malta Airport to Bugibba and comes every hour with the first departure at 5’30am and last at 22’30pm
  • Goes from Malta Airport to Birzebugga- the bus departs from the terminal in Valletta, and is a 25 minutes drive, with the first departure at 10’27am and the last at 22’54pm

You can buy tickets at the airport office or directly from the bus driver. One-way ticket costs 1’50 euros, 2 euros during summer, and it is valid for 2 hours. Keep a note that a ticket for night bus lines costs 3 euros.

How do I get from Malta Airport to my destination by taxi?

As the Malta airport is quite small you will be able to find local taxis easily. The official taxis are in the arrivals and are available 24/7. You can buy pre-paid tickets from the booth at the Welcomers’ Hall in the arrival area or pre-book your ride via the Malta Taxi app that is available on Google Play and App Store. They are easy to find in the streets or by calling them.

Keep in mind that choosing to transfer with a taxi during major holidays or between 10 pm to 6 am has an additional 2-euro fare and luggage more than 60cn have extra charge too. Moreover, if you choose to pre-book your ride and your flight is delayed there is a fee if the driver is waiting for an hour: Sliema 30 euros, St. Julians 31 euros, Valletta 22.50 euros.

Safety tip: Remember if you choose to get a taxi you need to take a white one, as there are black taxis too and they might be cheaper but they are unlicensed and nobody secures your ride and the service they will provide you.
