Getting from Vienna Airport to Bratislava by train?
Vienna’s business district is reachable by direct train from the airport. In order to get to Wien Mitte central train station, you have the flexibility to choose between two train route options. If you are going to drive to the train station or someone is dropping you off, the city center is 25 minutes away from the airport.
To get to the train platforms for the CAT and S7 trains, you must first make your way through the baggage claim area and check-in areas. Simply follow the directions on the train after retrieving your luggage.
The Schnellbahn S7 is utilized by public transport. Regular tickets only cost 3.90 euros and the trip typically lasts 25 minutes with multiple stops.
More specifically, you will need to buy two single tickets: one for the region outside of Vienna’s city limits, which costs 1.70€, and one for the Vienna city zone, which costs 2.20€. Between 5:18 am and 00:18 pm, trains run continuously.
The City Airport Train (CAT) travels straight from the airport to Wien Mitte station, so the journey is relatively shorter, but offered at a higher price than the regular S7. Standard tickets cost 12 euros for a 16-minute transit. They are available online at the price of 11 euros. Train service begins at 6:09 in the morning and ends at 11:39 at night.
The automated ticket machines and tourist information desks in the arrivals area both accept cash or credit cards for the purchase of train tickets. You should be aware that wheelchair users and children under 6 travel for free.
You are going to get off at Margareten train station and from there you should catch the train to Bratislava city center. The total cost will be around 40 euros, for a 2-hour journey to your destination.
