Bus from Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Istanbul
To take a bus between Istanbul’s Asian-side airport and the centre of Istanbul, you are offered a variety of options; although the most efficient and practical is the one offered by HAVABUS. To purchase a ticket, you’ll be able to find their stop just outside the arrivals terminal, where a ticket to the city can be purchased for 37.5 Turkish Lira, making this the cheapest way from Sabiha Gokcen airport to Istanbul. The bus service operates between 6:30am to 00:30 am, daily, with 30 minute intervals between buses. The bus will take you to Taksim, which is one of the main hubs of the city.
The journey will take about 1.5 hours, depending on the traffic. Along the way, the bus will stop at Kavacik, FSM (2nd) Bridge, 1.Levent, Zincirlikuyu Metrobus stop and Dolapdere. You can get off at any of these stops if they are closer to your destination. If you want to go to the historical Sultanahmet area, you will need to take another transport from Taksim, such as the metro, tram or taxi.
You can also use Istanbulkart, a smart card that allows you to pay for public transport, to save money and time. You can buy and load Istanbulkart at the airport or at any kiosk or vending machine in the city.
