Is there a Brussels Airport to City Centre Train?

Brussels is incredibly well-connected, meaning you can easily jump on a train to get to the city centre. A train ride will take just 30 minutes to get you to the centre, for a cost of only 10 euros, making it very cost-effective. From the central station, you can easily make any connections needed to get to your final destination, either by tram, metro, or bus.

To start your journey, after passing through passport checks and collecting your baggage, follow the signposts in the airport toward the train station. As there is a station within the airport, you wont have to worry about getting transportation there. Once you locate the station, check the departures board to find out when the soonest train is leaving. As you are only going into the city centre, you can take any train that passes through Brussels, as they won’t make any large diversions.

Purchase your ticket from one of the automated kiosks, and jump on board the train. Once on board, you may be asked by a conductor to present your ticket. Although rare, it is always recommended to purchase a ticket, as even first offences can be pricey.

Getting a Bus from Brussels Airport to City Centre

A bus is another very convenient method for getting to the city centre, although the train remains the most convenient, due to it dropping you outside Gare Centrale. When taking a bus, the final stop is just outside the Trone metro station, which is in close vicinity of the Royal Palace. Although you can take a metro ride from Trone to Gare Centrale, it is much easier to take a train directly there.

At the airport, similarly to above, you will need to first collect your belongings before heading to the bus stop. The stop is located on one of the underground levels, although there are elevators to help you get there. Once you arrive at the small underground bus stop, check the departure board to see when the next bus is arriving, if there isn’t already one there. There is a ticket machine to the left of where the bus itself stops, so you will need to hurry to buy one if it is already there, as the driver will not wait for you.

After grabbing a ticket, which will cost 7 euros, jump on board and validate it on the automatic ticket machines available on the bus – they are the red boxes with screens on! Now, all that is left to do is sit back and enjoy the (sometimes bumpy) ride.
