Is There a Train from Toronto Airport to Niagara Falls?

There isn’t a train directly from the airport, but by taking a bus to the city center, you can catch a bus that will take you to the falls in just over 3 hours. The train to Niagara only departs once a day, thus you should coordinate your trip accordingly. It will leave Toronto Union Station at 8:20am, arriving at Niagara at 10:20.

To begin your trip, catch the UP express bus to Union Station. The cost this ticket will be C$12.35, and can be purchased online, or from the driver.

Once you arrive at Toronto Union station, make your way to the correct platform, which can be found by checking the departure board. Purchase the ticket for the train either from the automated kiosks, or through the official VIA Rail website. Single “Escape” tickets will cost C$29, and offer only modest seating and luggage storage.

Once you arrive in Niagara Falls, you can choose between other transportation methods to either get to your accommodation, or to the sightseeing tour you have arranged.

Getting a Bus from Toronto Airport to Niagara Falls

The bus is a slightly less convenient option, with a slightly longer trip duration of 3 and a half hours. In total, you will have to catch 3 different buses, increasing the likelihood of missing a connection. If you do decide to take this route, be sure to carefully plan your trip and purchase any tickets online, if possible.

From the airport, you will need to catch the number 7 Southbound bus, getting off at Renforth Drive. Once there, make your connection with the number 40 Hamilton GO bus, which will take you to Dundas Street in Burlington. Finally, you will need to make the connection with the number 12 bus, which will take you directly to Niagara Falls.

To break down the cost: the first bus will cost C$4.40 for a single trip, the second and third are both priced at C$10.68, meaning your trip total will come out to C$25.76.

Alternative Toronto Airport to Niagara Falls Transport

Aside from the abovementioned public modes of transportation, you can also travel privately, either by renting a car, hopping in a standard taxi, or by booking a private transfer.

Car rental is a flexible and mostly affordable option for travel. You can plan your own trip on your own time, and travel in a vehicle only with your friends and family. The disadvantage of car rental, aside from driving in a foreign country, is the expensive insurance waiver that you need to pay before picking up your car. If you are traveling on a budget, this can definitely put a damper in your holiday plans. Although it will be returned when you take the car back, the money that was held could have gone towards something more fun during your holiday.

For standard taxi cabs, the issue that arises is with getting a dishonest cab driver, who may overcharge you for your trip. It is usual practice in most countries for taxi drivers to add a premium to their price, due to picking you up from an airport. Be sure to negotiate the price with them before even stepping foot in the taxi.
