Best Way to Get From Paphos Cyprus to Ayia Napa

“Best” is very subjective, as taking the bus could be best for one traveller, whereas a luxury first-class transfer with AtoB could be the best for someone else. Due to this, it’s important for you to know all the available transportation methods, and then you can make the most informed choice; you could even choose to combine the methods mentioned below and get the best of both worlds.

Both Paphos and Ay.Napa are coastal regions in Cyprus, though they are the farthest cities apart in the Republic of Cyprus. In total, there is a distance of 142 kilometres between the two regions, but a convenient, modern highway connects the two. In the following we will look further into the two cities and the transportation methods you can use to go between them.

Paphos and Ay.Napa in Cyprus are two of the most popular tourist destinations in the Mediterranean area. Paphos is known for its beautiful beaches, historical and archaeological sites and fascinating nightlife. Ay.Napa, on the other hand, is known for its vibrant nightlife, golden beaches and numerous water activities.

Both cities have rich historical backgrounds – Paphos was once the capital of Cyprus, while Ay.Napa was a small fishing village until the mid-20th century. Both of these cities offer something for everyone, from beautiful beaches to historical monuments, to vibrant nightlife – making them must-visit destinations for tourists.

To get between them, you can choose to take the bus, a taxi, rent a car, book a quality transfer with AtoB, or walk (just kidding). As said, we will go into detail on all of these options, clearly stating our preference, and providing you with all the info you need.

Is there a Paphos to Ayia Napa Train?

In case you didn’t know, there is no train service in Cyprus, thus taking a train is impossible. Rather, you will have to use one of the other transportation methods listed below.

Getting a Paphos to Ayia Napa Bus

In contrast to trains, bus routes are very much a thing in Cyprus, with buses running across the island at convenient times of the day. The most common public bus provider is Intercity Buses, who have routes to and from all major cities in Cyprus (only in southern Cyprus). Getting from Paphos to Ayia Napa and vice versa is a relatively easy journey to take. So, let’s look into it!

If you are travelling from Paphos to Ayia Napa, you will need to first get to the Old Pervola Market. If you are travelling from the airport, then you will need to board the bus from the airport to the market, namely the 613 bus, which departs roughly every two hours from the airport.

The ticket for the bus costs €1.50, and needs to be bought directly from the driver, who only accepts cash. If you are travelling from another location in Paphos, head over to the official OSYPA website and check the bus schedules to find the appropriate bus for you. After reaching the Intercity bus stop in Paphos, board the bus towards Famagusta, which departs only once daily, at 16:00. You will need to pay the driver for the trip, which costs €9.00, and can only be paid for with cash.

If you are residing in central Ayia Napa, it is recommended to get off the bus at the monastery bus stop in the middle of town, from where you can easily get to your final destination. There is a taxi stand at this bus stop, if you need to take a ride somewhere not easily accessed on foot.

As the distance between the two cities is quite large, at least for Cypriot standards, there aren’t many transportation options available. When it comes to getting from Ayia Napa to Paphos, you can either take the bus, as elaborated on above, hail a taxi, although be careful for their exorbitant fares, rent a car, which can also be slightly dangerous with their insurance waivers costing a lot, or, for your best option, book a transfer with AtoB.
