Larnaca city centre is about 8 km away from the airport. This is probably one of the shortest journeys from an airport you’ll ever take in Cyprus.
Travel Tip: Even if the city centre seems to be so close to the airport, do yourself a favour and don’t try to walk there with luggage. It’s not like there’s a direct pedestrian path, and the route itself is more suited for road transport.
A typical journey from Larnaca Airport (LCA) to the city centre takes about 15 min by road (20 min tops). It’s a matter of traffic and destination.
If you’re staying anywhere near the Finikoudes Promenade, Saint Lazarus Square, or Larnaca Marina, your travel time from the airport will be the same for all (up to 20 min). You’ll arrive even faster if you’re headed to hotels along Mackenzie Beach, which is located right between the airport and the city centre.
Good to know: Traffic usually builds up around the seafront during the summer, especially in the late afternoon when locals or visitors go to the beach. But your travel from the airport cannot possibly take more than half an hour, so all good.

No. There’s no railway network in Cyprus. You’ll need to travel by road either way. Whether it’s the public bus, a taxi, a rental car, or a pre-booked transfer is up to you.
For better or for worse, buses are the only public transport option you can take to get to the city centre. Or at all in Cyprus, for that matter.
You can catch a public bus right outside the arrivals terminal at LCA. You’ll see the bus stop right away.
FYI: You’ll usually find bus timetables displayed at the station, and bus drivers normally accept cash fares onboard. So yeah, do carry some cash with you (that’s a bit of a thing here in Cyprus when it comes to public buses).
There are several routes connecting the two, but the most relevant for tourists headed directly to the city centre are 425 (most frequent) as well as 429 and 430.
They run every 20 to 60 minutes. Plus, they’re the cheapest airport transport option – expect to pay between €1.50 and €2.50.
If you get off the bus at the Larnaca Central Bus Station, you can take many other buses to nearby locations around Larnaca. You can check their schedule online on the Cyprus Public Transport website.
Insider Tip: Buses normally don’t run at all during the night and are very limited during late hours. If you’re thinking of a taxi, don’t forget that fares may go up at night.
