What we intend to achieve is,  that after having read this article, you will have made up your mind and chosen the best option for you. Now, before we go any further, let’s talk about Siena a little.

Is there a Florence to Siena Train?

There is indeed! Although not directly from the airport, you can still get to Siena purely by travelling on the rails.

You will first need to catch a tram from the airport, namely the T2, which will drop you off at the Santa Maria Novella station. The trip from the airport is around 19 minutes and has a total of 11 stops. It won’t drop you off exactly in the station, so you will have to walk from the “Unity” tram stop, to the train station, which is around 4 minutes on foot.

After arriving at the station, you will be able to board a direct train to Siena, offered by TrenItalia. Check the departures board at the airport to determine which platform your train is departing from. The regional trains, usually with 5 digit number codes are the only direct, whereas the Regionale Veloce trains will need a change half-way through the journey.

Tickets cost €9.80 and can be purchased easily online, to avoid any delays at the station.

The train will drop you off at the central station in Siena, which is just a short walk from the city centre.
