Best Way from Rome Airport to City Centre

The best way can vary from person to person and from each trip to the next. Perhaps one traveller will prefer to take public transport when visiting Rome alone, whereas on the next trip they may choose to take a private transfer, as they are travelling with family. The options for transportation are limitless and are mostly dependent on your budget and comfort and convenience preference.

Those travelling with young children will likely find it incredibly uncomfortable to travel by train or bus, as their kids may become restless along the way. In these cases, booking a private transfer with AtoB and including child seats solves the issue. In any case, the following article shall provide you with the info needed to make the best choice. Before that, though, let’s talk about Rome a bit.

With a history spanning over 2,500 years, Rome is a treasure trove of fascinating tales and intriguing anecdotes that are waiting to be discovered. From the mythical Romulus’ legendary founding of the city to the turbulent rise and fall of the Roman Empire, Rome has seen it all. But Rome is not just about its past; it’s a city that embraces the present with open arms.

The lively piazzas, such as Piazza Navona and Piazza di Spagna, are perfect spots to indulge in some people-watching while savouring a creamy gelato.  Wash it all down with a glass of local wine, and you’ll truly understand why “when in Rome, do as the Romans do”! Join the legions of travellers who have fallen under the spell of the Eternal City, and let Rome cast its spell on you as well. Ave, Rome!

How can you get a Train from Rome Airport to City Centre?

Fiumicino
If you are arriving at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, you can opt for the cost-effective Leonardo Express train operated by Trenitalia. This non-stop train runs every 30 minutes between the airport and Rome’s central Termini Station, with a travel time of approximately 32 minutes.

Priced at €14 per person, the Leonardo Express offers a budget-friendly and efficient mode of transportation to reach the city centre. With comfortable seating and ample luggage space, it’s a convenient choice for travellers looking to start their Roman adventure without breaking the bank. Buon viaggio!

Ciampino
The CIA airport itself doesn’t have a train station, but taking a bus to the town of Ciampino will allow you to board a train to the city centre. The bus to board is the Ciampino Airlink. From there, board the first train towards Rome, and you’re pretty much done! Tickets for this trip cost only €2.90, and can either be bought online, or directly at the ticket vending machines.

The bus ride from here is the most efficient public transport method, as it picks you up directly from the airport and takes you to the city centre. It also only costs €7.00, so is half the price of a train ticket. The time is also very similar, at only 35 minutes, you will be in Rome in no time. The bus service is provided by SIT bus, with tickets purchasable online.

For this airport too, bus is perhaps the more efficient public transport method, as there is a direct route, which costs just €6.00. No need to worry about making connections, and although it is slightly more expensive than the train, getting there without any stops is definitely a lot more fun.
