The best way to get from either of Rome’s airports, Ciampino or Fiumicino, to the iconic Trevi Fountain largely depends on your personal preferences and travel style. Rome offers a plethora of transportation options, catering to every traveller’s unique needs. If you don’t want to overspend on transportation during your trip, jumping on a bus or metro/tram will suit you.

Backpackers and young couples will likely benefit the most from this option, whereas families and larger groups will best be suited with private transportation. Now, before we move onto the “how-to” section, let’s talk a bit about the fountain!

The Trevi Fountain, or Fontana di Trevi for the locals, is a true masterpiece of baroque art that has captured the hearts of travellers for centuries! As you approach this grandiose landmark, get ready to be mesmerised by its ornate details and majestic presence. The intricate carvings, the gushing sound of the water, and the dazzling play of light reflecting off the marble will leave you in awe. Have you ever wondered how many coins are tossed into this fountain every day?

Well, hold your breath, because it’s estimated that over 3,000 euros worth of coins are tossed into the fountain each day, or over €1 million a year! That’s enough to make Neptune himself blush with envy. And oh, the legend of tossing a coin over your left shoulder to ensure a return to Rome, or two coins to find love! It’s like a magical lottery with wishes granted as the prize. So, grab a coin, make a wish, and toss it with gusto, for who knows, the Trevi Fountain might just work its enchanting charm on you too!
