The small Sicilian island will give you very little time to wonder whether you’re already on an island, with the airport sitting right beside the coast and town. Compared to airports on the main island of Sicily – Lampedusa Airport is super-compact.

Even if there’s no hour-long motorway waiting at the other end of your flight, it doesn’t necessarily mean you want to work out transportation after landing, does it?

FYI: Italy’s southernmost island doesn’t usually have much traffic, but summer is a particularly intense season. The main flight origins are airport connections with Palermo (PMO), Catania (CTA), Milan Malpensa (MXP), and Rome Fiumicino (FCO).

What happens after landing at Lampedusa (LMP)?

After landing, passengers collect their baggage and continue towards the exit area. If you arranged a transfer with us, our driver will meet you right in the arrivals area with a sign with your name.

LMP is definitely not the airport that requires a whole strategy for changing terminals and figuring out public transport. But a predictable arrival, with a personal driver already waiting for you and ready to take you directly to your address on the island, feels safe and (why not) nice.

Good to know: We use flight monitoring systems to coordinate your pickup around the updated arrival time if your flight arrives later than scheduled. You don’t have to rearrange anything mid-flight.

Where can you go from the airport?

A private taxi from the airport can take you to any road-accessible destination across the island, including the town centre, port, as well as popular accommodations along the coast, such as Cala Croce, Cala Creta, Cala Madonna, or Sciatu Persu.

Most journeys are measured in minutes here, let alone hours. And that’s the beauty of it.

Travel tip: The beach name alone doesn’t always make a good drop-off. When arranging a private taxi, use the actual address or nearest road-accessible point.

Should you book an airport transfer?

A pre-arranged airport transfer is most useful if you want a confirmed pickup and direct transportation to your exact address.

It makes more sense when:

• You’re travelling with children or multiple suitcases;
• You land at Lampedusa early in the morning or late at night;
• Your accommodation is far away from the bus stop;
• You’re arriving during the peak summer season;
• You’re heading back to the airport for a flight.

What to check before your transfer?

First things first, check your exact drop-off address and flight details. Or confirm your pickup time with enough buffer for airport check-in for the return journey.

What else?

• Enter the correct flight number;
• Count the luggage as well as passengers to pick the right vehicle;
• Request child seats (and add other extras);
• Mention mobility requirements in advance;
• Enter your actual departure time when planning a return trip to the airport.
