No, there is no train available between these two destinations. Due to the remote location of the islands, there has not yet been a train track laid, and there likely won’t be. In order to get to the islands by public transport, one will have to rely on buses, which fortunately are quite efficient, although they don’t run very often.
Taking the bus is easy, although may be quite uncomfortable, due to the long duration of the trip, and all the winding roads. Nevertheless, to catch the bus, head to the bus station at the airport, which is easily found by following the many signs, and locate the number 300 bus, which offers a direct route to Leknes, one of the cities in the Lofoten Islands.
After locating your bus, jump on board and purchase a ticket from the conductor. The price can vary, depending on the day, but should range between 10 to 20 euros.

From the Harstad/Narvik Airport, the distance is around 130 kilometres, whereas by car the distance increases to over 230 kilometres, this being due to the winding roads which connect all the islands together with the mainland. In total, a trip to Leknes, one of the larger cities in the Lofoten Islands will be almost 4 hours.
We’ve already covered the two public transportation options, so let’s take a look at the few private options, which include auto rental, a conventional taxi cab, or a private transfer with AtoB.
When it comes to automobile rentals, you’ll probably appreciate the freedom of being able to travel at your own leisure in your own vehicle. Oslo Airport is very vast, with many passengers passing through it every day. When attempting to hail a cab, you will most likely be delayed. If you do get one, the price may be a little exorbitant, as taxi drivers at the airport will opt to include a variety of other “charges” in the final price, which you will have to pay on the spot.
The bus is the cheapest option, although it may be slightly uncomfortable, especially if you are prone to motion sickness. Due to the narrow, windy roads, the trip can be quite unpleasant if you are cramped into a bus with numerous other travellers. If you value your privacy, an AtoB transfer is the only way to go.
