How to Get from Oslo to Lillehammer

How Do I Get from Oslo to Lillehammer by Train?

Fortunately, there is a direct train line connecting Oslo to Lillehammer. The train ride takes just over 2 hours, and departs from the Central Station in Oslo. You can find the station in central Oslo, close to the Opera House and Munch Museum. The price of a one-way ticket costs 480 NOK, or just over €45, and can be purchased at the station, or online on the official Norwegian Rail website.

You’ll have to board train number RE10 towards Lillehammer, which departs from track 11. The train leaves the central station every 30 minutes, meaning that you won’t ever have to wait too long to catch this train to Lillehammer.

In total, there are 8 stops along the way, at various stops across the Norwegian landscape. One thing is for sure, there will be countless opportunities to see the beautiful scenery.

Travel Tip: When booking the ticket, make sure to reserve a seat (for an additional fee) to ensure you have a seat on the train!

Getting from Oslo to Lillehammer by Bus?

There is also a direct bus route between the two locations, which takes slightly longer than the train route, but still offers some stunning views along the way! To take the bus, you will have to board the VY146 from the Oslo Bus Terminal, which departs twice daily, and takes roughly 3 hours to reach its destination.

You can find the Bus Station close to the north of the central train station. Keep in mind that there is another bus route to Lillehammer, but this will require 2 bus changes, and a much longer transit time.

The bus will get you to the main Lillehammer station, which is conveniently located in the centre of the city. From there, getting to your final destination should be simple.
