How to get a Train from Oslo to Trysil?

Unfortunately, there is no direct train route from Oslo to Trysil, meaning that a combination of train routes and bus routes are necessary to get from one to the other. From the central station in Oslo, catch the RE10 train towards Lillehammer. After 5 stops, get off at Hamar station, and board the R60 train towards Røros from track 2.

After a 20 minute ride, and two stops, debark the train at Elverum station. That will be the end of the train rides, and now you will need to catch a bus, namely the 150 bus towards Trysil. This particular bus ride will take just over an hour, and will have 38 stops in total. The price of the train ticket alone will come in at around NOK 411 (€38.62), whereas the bus ticket will cost around NOK 100 (€9.40).

Travel Tip: As the bus which goes to Trysil is run by a different company than the train line, you will need to purchase a separate ticket from Innlandstrafikk.

Getting a Bus from Oslo Airport to Trysil

Much like the train, the bus too doesn’t have a direct route servicing the two destinations. Due to this, it will be necessary to take three different buses in order to reach Trysil. From Oslo Airport, catch the VY146 bus towards Måløy, and alight from it at the Skavbakken E6 stop, after 3 prior stops.

From there, you will need to board the VY123 to Elverum, which will take roughly half an hour to reach its destination, and has 4 stops along the way. Finally, the last bus to board is the 150 towards Trysil. This bus has the most stops of the journey thus far, with a total of 38. The duration of the journey from here will be an hour and a half, and will drop you off at the Trysil Bus Station.

In total, the trip should take just over 3 hours. You will need to buy tickets from two separate operators, namely VY for the first part of the trip, and Innlandstrafikk for the second. In total the trip should cost around NOK 300 (€28.19). This particular route runs only once daily, at 11.20am, although another two routes, which will need you to catch bus S22 first can also be taken, although this one will add an additional 1 hour to the transit time.

Travel Tip: Be sure to make your way to each bus as quickly as possible in order to not risk missing out on your connection.
