Located in Salou and Vila-seca, the entertainment resort has been around since 1995. In just 2018 it saw over 6 million visitors come through, making it one of the most popular resorts in Spain. The park itself features five themed areas based on different civilizations and one area based on Sesame Street, the popular TV show from back in the day.

Is there a Train from Barcelona to PortAventura?

A direct train route isn’t available, but if you are set on taking the train (which is fine), we will detail the entire trip. In total, the quickest route that takes only trains will require a total of 2 changes and quite a bit of walking. It should get you there in around 2 hours and 10 minutes, although this can change and will also have around 20 minutes of walking.

From Airport Terminal 2, board the R2N train to the city centre. This is a quick ride, taking on 7 minutes and not stopping anywhere along the way. After reaching the El Prat de Llobregat train station, you will need to board your next train, namely the R2S train, towards Vilanova, which should get you there in around 34 minutes, with 7 stops.

The next train to catch will be the REGIONAL train, which shall take you directly to the PortAventura train station. This trip will be the longest, at 50 minutes, but should be relatively comfortable and quick, only making 5 stops along the way. After reaching the train station, you will need to walk around 950 metres to reach the park itself.

In total, you will need to buy 2 tickets, one for the first two trains, one for the last, which will cost around €30, making it dearer than taking the bus.

Getting a Bus from Barcelona to PortAventura

The bus is the cheapest way to get to the adventure park, with tickets costing €16.60, purchasable directly from the bus driver. In total the trip will take 1 hour 43 minutes and will make 17 stops along the way.

To catch this bus, head to the airport Terminal 1, from where you will need to locate the bus station. This is quite easy, due to the numerous sign posts found throughout the airport. After locating the stop, find the bus which is direct towards the amusement park. Board and pay the driver and enjoy the trip.

After reaching the station near the park, you will need to walk roughly 850 metres to get inside. Make sure to pack your walking shoes!

Distance from Barcelona Airport to PortAventura

The distance is approximately 100 kilometres. If you’re travelling by road, it would take around 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach PortAventura, depending on traffic conditions. Alternatively, you can take a train from Barcelona to PortAventura, which takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes. However, it’s worth noting that travel times may vary depending on the specific mode of transport you choose, as well as other factors like traffic or weather conditions.

Getting from the airport, as well as around the city is a piece of cake in Spain and the Barcelona region. You can choose between a modest selection of transport to get you where you need to go. The bus route, as was discussed above, is an efficient and affordable way to get around, although it can be tiresome and overcrowded at times.

Car rental can most times be the most expensive option for transportation, with companies providing low prices, but exorbitant deposits.
