Getting a Zurich to Grindelwald Train
The Swiss are famous for their railways, this makes taking a train trip across the country a real pleasure, usually. Unfortunately for this trip, there are no direct routes between the two locations, meaning that swapping trains is a must. If you feel up to the challenge, then read on.
Purchase your train tickets at the station, or save yourself the lines and get them online. Train tickets from Zurich to Grindelwald depend on what time of day you book them for. If you book in advance, the ticket price is usually €40.
In order to get to Grindelwald from Zurich, you will need to make stops in Bern and Interlaken Ost. First, catch the IC8 towards Brig at Zurich HB platform 31, which departs every hour. After a 56 minute journey, you will arrive in Bern. From here, catch the IC61 train to Interlaken Ost from platform 7. 54 minutes later you will arrive at Interlaken Ost. Catch the R61 train at platform 2B to your final destination. In total, there are 9 intermediate stops during the trip. Make sure to get off at the right one by checking the announcement screens on the train. If you are travelling from Zurich airport to Grindelwald train routes reach here too.
