While other airports might drop you in the middle of a metropolis, Ancona-Falconara does something different: the airport puts the Adriatic coast and the hills of Le Marche within striking distance.

Officially, the airport sits around 16 km from Ancona, near Falconara Marittima. But its reach is much wider. You could go north along the coast or inland to one of the neighbouring hill towns. There’s no one specific direction, and this is why a private transfer works so well for a small regional airport like this.

Good to know: You may also come across names like Aeroporto delle Marche and Raffaello Sanzio. They all refer to the same Ancona-Falconara airport.

Landed at Falconara Airport – what’s next?

If you have pre-booked a private transfer service, you can easily follow the meet instructions towards the Arrivals hall to find your driver. They’ll be holding a sign with your name.

Since Ancona-Falconara is relatively small, there’s not much to figure out. A few things are still worth your attention:

• Arrivals and Departures are separate terminals.
• Double-check your meet instructions before walking out.
• Keep your phone switched on in case you need to get in touch with your driver.

FYI: Even if Falconara Airport is much smaller than other central Italy airports, like Florence or Pisa, it’s an important international gateway to the Le Marche region.

Where can you travel from Ancona-Falconara Airport?

The airport is well located for Ancona city, the Conero Riviera and all the possible holiday destinations across Le Marche, with road connections continuing south and north along the Adriatic coast.

With Senigallia to the north and Portonovo, Sirolo, and Numana to the south – it’s pretty obvious why Falconara Airport is such a bookable pick-up point among international travellers. You can also turn inland for hill towns like Jesi, Recanati or Urbino.

If you continue along the coast, you can reach Porto Recanati, San Benedetto, and Civitanova Marche. And then there’s the port, and a private taxi can take you directly from the airport towards the Ancona Port rather than leaving you to connect through the city with suitcases.

Travel tip: If you’re coming for the sea, don’t search only for “Ancona” when choosing your accommodation. Look at Sirolo, Portonovo or Numana as well.

When is an airport transfer really worth it?

The pre-booked taxi service is particularly useful if your final destination requires extra public transport connections.

Even though you can take the train or public bus to central Ancona, a private transfer is more convenient if:

A few things to sort out before your airport transfer

Make sure you enter the correct flight number and exact drop-off address in our booking system, but also:
Use the correct airport code: AOI.

• Enter the full address of your accommodation.
• Count passengers and suitcases before selecting a vehicle.
• Include child seats, oversized luggage, and other add-ons if you need them.
• Add some breathing room if you’re booking a transfer to the coast or a journey back to the airport in summer.
• Please let us know in advance about any mobility requirements you may have.

Travel tip: Catching a ferry? Use the port as your drop-off point. Central Ancona and Ancona Port are not interchangeable.
