Verona Airport Private Taxi

Land at Verona Villafranca Airport, and you could be heading to the city of Romeo and Juliet, north towards Trentino, west towards Lake Garda, or simply travelling across northern Italy.

That particular geography makes a pre-booked transfer service from Verona Airport particularly convenient for trips that don’t necessarily end in central Verona, especially when a private driver is ready to pick you up right after landing and take you directly to your hotel.

Good to know: The airport is located surprisingly close to Lago di Garda. The lake’s southernmost point, Peschiera del Garda, is just 20 km away.

What to expect after landing at Verona Airport?

Once you’ve collected your luggage, head towards the arrivals hall and follow the meeting instructions. The driver will be waiting for you at the agreed meeting point with a name sign. Keep your phone switched on so you can easily reach each other.

FYI: There is no train station at the airport. You can take the public bus or book a private taxi to Porta Nova, from where you can continue by train.

Where can you go from Verona Villafranca?

Obviously, the airport is very well placed for Verona itself, Lago di Garda destinations and onward trips across Veneto, Trentino, and Lombardy.

The southern side of Lago di Garda is particularly accessible, with most airport transfers being booked to popular spots like Garda, Peschiera, Sirmione, Lazise, Bardolino and Malcesine.

Let’s change the direction – to the north, and we switch from lake to mountains, with new journeys towards Riva del Garda, Trento and the Dolomites.

Heading east? This opens up trips to Vicenza, Padua and Venice, while Mantua is located conveniently to the south.

Travel tip: If you’re heading further east across Veneto, consider Marco Polo and Treviso airports as practical alternatives to Verona, depending on your final address and available flights.

Should you book a private airport transfer?

A pre-booked airport taxi makes most sense if your final destination is less convenient than the airport itself.

Now, let’s be realistic. If you’re solo travelling to central Verona with light baggage, public transport may be all you need.

A private airport transfer is much more useful if:

  • Your accommodation is around Lago di Garda, not beside a railway station.
  • You’re carrying heavy suitcases.
  • You want to avoid public transport schedules, taxi queues, and extra connections.
  • You’re travelling with children.
  • You’re travelling with a large group and would rather keep everyone in one vehicle.
  • Your flight lands late at night or early in the morning.
  • You’re arriving during a particularly busy season (summer, event period, exhibition).
  • Your hotel is far from public transport connections.

What to check when booking your airport transfer?

Start with the correct flight number and exact drop-off address. But also:

  • Use the correct airport code: VRN.
  • Enter the full address of your accommodation.
  • Count passengers and suitcases before selecting your private car.
  • Include child seats, oversized luggage, and other add-ons if you need them.
  • Allow extra transfer time for your trip back to the airport.
  • Please let us know in advance about any mobility requirements you may have.

Travel tip: Double-check the name of your lake town. They may all contain “Garda” but end up being different destinations.

Local Tips

Arriving at Verona Airport?

Here’s What to Expect

The airport is fairly compact

This isn’t Malpensa or Fiumicino. The Arrivals hall is easy to navigate, so you normally won’t face any problems finding your way out after landing.

Lago di Garda isn’t one destination

Always use the exact address of your hotel or any other accommodation. Peschiera, Garda, Sirmione, or Riva del Garda can mean absolutely different journey times.

Peschiera is more than a holiday spot

Its position at the southern end of the lake and its own railway station make it an important transport hub for onward journeys around the lake.

Summer weekends get busy

If you’re planning a holiday transfer to Lago di Garda, leave extra time for your journey to and from the airport, as roads around the lake can get considerably busier during peak periods.

Verona has its own ZTL

Most of the historic city centre restricts unauthorised traffic. And yes, your hotel address matters when arranging a door-to-door service.

Aperitivo isn’t a bad idea

Here in Verona, an aperitivo often comes with snacks, which makes it an easy first stop after checking in, especially if you’re not ready for a full meal.

Riva del Garda is in Trentino

It may share the same lake as Peschiera (southern point of the lake, close to the airport), but Riva is at the northern tip of the lake, in a different region.

Take a ferry when at the lake

You don’t necessarily need to rent a car for every day trip around Lago di Garda. Ferries are way more practical if you want to move between several lakeside towns.
