Situated on the banks of the Tagus River, Lisbon has this unique blend of old-world charm and modern appeal that just hooks you right in. You know, it’s often called the “City of Seven Hills’ ‘, among other nicknames, and once you wander through its streets and squares, you’ll see why. Picture yourself standing on top of São Jorge Castle, taking in the views of the city, or getting lost in the maze-like alleys of Alfama, where you can catch the groovy sounds of fado music floating through the air.

And hey, don’t even get us started on those mouthwatering pastéis de nata, those delicious Portuguese custard tarts that you just have to try! But hey, enough about Lisbon’s charms and hidden gems. Let’s dig into AtoB’s Lisbon Airport Taxi service, because we’ve got your back when it comes to making your journey in and out of this incredible city a breeze.

How Can you Get from Lisbon Airport to Lisbon City Centre by Train?

Taking the train is not actually possible, per se, rather you will have to rely on the metro if you would like to take a rail-led transportation option. Fortunately, the underground in Lisbon does offer a relatively convenient option, which will only require one change to get to the city centre. Tickets are very modestly priced, at only €3.00 for a single ticket. The metro also functions throughout the day, at 7 minute intervals. If you are arriving at night, though, you will be inconvenienced, as it doesn’t operate after midnight.

Nevertheless, if you are indeed arriving during the day, head to the airport’s metro station, which is easily found, thanks to the many sign-posts throughout the arrivals terminal. You will need to catch the VM Metro towards Sao Sebastiao, where you need to disembark and catch a follow-up Metro. The second one to jump on, is the VD line, getting off at the Cais do Sodre, in just 3 minutes.

You will now be in the centre of Lisbon, from where you can easily locate your accommodation, or simply sight-see if that is what you visited the city for.

Travel Tip: Buy your tickets from one of the many kiosks located at the station. They accept coins as well as cards.

Getting a Bus from Lisbon Airport to City Centre

The bus is also a convenient option, although you will need to switch to another bus to get to the city centre. The journey will take a total of 36 minutes, give or take, and tickets cost just €2,00 for a single trip.

From the airport, located the bus, which is also easily sign-posted like the Metro station. After locating the correct bus, namely the 722 to Pc. Londres, hop on board and travel to the terminus in 10 stops. After reaching your first stop, which should be outside a large church, dedicated to Sao Joao de Deus. Catch your next bus, the 767, which will take you to the centre of Lisbon.

From there, it is easy to make connections with other buses to reach the exact (almost) point of your accommodation.

Travel Tip: Tickets for the bus can also be bought from kiosks. If you plan to use the bus and tram while in the city, you can buy a 24 hour ticket.

Cheapest way from Lisbon Airport to City

As is always the case, public transport is the cheapest option. You can take the metro for 3 euros or the bus for 2 euros, making them very affordable for budget-conscious travellers. Although they may be very affordable, they are not always the most convenient option. The reason for this, is due to having to make connections to reach the city centre, the possibility of missing a connection, thus delaying your arrival time, or even getting lost.

If you want to avoid any of this travel-related stress, your only option is a ride with AtoB. For a full list of all our available vehicles, check the list below.
